The Full Story
About Me
I was raised in the American Southwest. I was always exploring the great outdoors. From family vacations to ancient Native American dwellings to my time gold prospecting.
I started doing art in high school. Doing projects like, drawing muscle cars on the back of army fatigues, designing a cobra to be painted on a ski boat or doing a company letterhead of one of my teachers. Doing projects like that is where I started but I became more serious in photography before my drawing. Later, I became serious with drawing and using the the rules of photography to better my drawing compositions.
After that, I got serious about my drawing, to the point of drawing, reading, and researching everything about art on a daily basis for about 8 years. Building a library and studying as much as possible.
I've won drawing contests in Professional Artist magazine and taught an art class for awhile.

Mission
At M. McCune Art, my mission is to illuminate the unique beauty and intimacy of charcoal and graphite as drawing mediums. We aim to inspire artists and enthusiasts alike to explore the depth and texture these materials offer, fostering a deeper connection to their creative expression. Through workshops, tutorials, and community engagement, I strive to share the transformative power of these mediums, encouraging everyone to discover the rich, tactile experience that charcoal and graphite can provide.
